Where to Acclimatize Before Larkya La Pass

Trek upto Samdo Peak

Ready for a quick adventure? Hike up to Samdo Peak (4,500m) for the best views in the valley! It's a 3-4 hour round trip from the village - steep but worth every step. You'll get panoramic views of Manaslu, the Tibetan border, and the whole Samdo valley below. Bring water, go slow, and don't forget your camera - this is the perfect warm-up before tackling Larkya La Pass!

Trek upto Dharmasala

If you’ve got two days, trek to Dharamsala (4,460m) on Day 1 (sleep back in Samdo to stay safe), then explore a shimmering glacial lake on Day 2. These hikes prep your body for the big Larkya La Pass climb and reward you with epic landscapes.

Trek upto Tibet Border

For a unique acclimatization hike, trek from Samdo toward the Tibet border (4-5 hours round trip). Follow the historic trade route through rugged valleys, passing grazing yaks and remote herder camps. While you can't cross the border, the dramatic high-altitude scenery—with views of Manaslu and the Tibetan plateau—makes this an unforgettable side adventure. Best done as a day hike from Samdo (3,690m) to aid altitude adjustment before Larkya La.
