For a half-day adventure, hike up to the Samdo Peak viewpoint (~4,500m)—it’s a 3–4 hour round trip with jaw-dropping views of Manaslu and the Tibetan border.
Prefer something gentler?
Stroll the old Tibetan trade route for 2–3 hours toward Larkya Glacier—keep an eye out for blue sheep and yaks!
If you’ve got two days, trek to Dharamsala (4,460m) on Day 1 (sleep back in Samdo to stay safe), then explore a shimmering glacial lake on Day 2. These hikes prep your body for the big Larkya La Pass climb and reward you with epic landscapes.
Don’t forget: Water, warm layers, and sunscreen—the wind here doesn’t play nice!
